After invitation from the Dutch petanque Club Gemert de Boules the Grundfos petanque club has been on a tour to the Netherlands late September to participate in a tournament in Gemert near Eindhoven.

At the same time we took the opportunity to visit Grundfos Holland to see the new premises in Almere.

We received a warm welcome by financial manager Rein Boer who informed about the removal from Weesp to Almere and what was done on the spot. He also informed about the large distribution centre which is also located in Holland from where goods are sent to all the world. He gave us a tour of the building which includes the administration of both Grundfos Holland (GNL) and Grundfos Distribution Service (GDS). The building is very elegant and has a beautiful view on the water from the canteen and the offices.

On the day of the tournament we played a large number of good petanque matches in wonderful sunshine. We had competed against the Dutch club previously in 2004, and we were happy to meet again. There are more than 100 members in the club and 50 of them came to compete against us. The teams were composed by one Danish player and one Dutch player against two Dutch players owing to the large number of Dutch participants. We played with changing partners and opponents in each match which enabled everybody to get in touch with as many persons as possible.

After 5 matches the winner of the day was found, and from Grundfos the winner was Gerda Nielsen together with a Dutch player. Second was Jorn V. Jensen also together with a Dutch player. The third winner was Henry Nielsen together with a Dutch player.

The Dutch club wants to visit Grundfos Petanque Club next year, and we hope that the visit will take place.
